Melissa's Approach
Melissa steps into the therapeutic space, bringing with her a beautiful tapestry of experiences as a woman of colour and a compassionate psychotherapist. With a deep understanding that our lives are shaped by intricate systems, she commits to using a trauma informed, intersectional and anti oppressive stance within sessions.
At Whitehouse Psychotherapy, Melissa's approach is like a gentle breeze that invites exploration and offers unwavering support. Her decade-long experience spanning across working with children, adolescents, and adults, combined with her rich exposure to diverse therapeutic environments, makes her a welcoming presence for people from all walks of life and of all ages. She's here to connect with you, to see if she could be the therapist you've been searching for in your therapeutic journey. The best part? You don't need to be an artist to experience the therapeutic art sessions she lovingly provides. These sessions seamlessly blend with traditional talk therapy, tailored to what suits you best.
Melissa's journey is paved with a master's degree in creative arts therapies, specializing in art therapy from Concordia University. She is also a Registered Psychotherapist. Her areas of expertise are wide and diverse, ranging from ADHD, anxiety, and depression to burnout, racial trauma, grief and loss, as well as relationships. Imagine all these therapeutic approaches coming together—psychodynamic, compassion-focused, trauma-informed, person-centered, anti-oppressive, strength-based, and humanistic—all focused on walking alongside you towards wellbeing.
