Maggie's Approach
Maggie is a dedicated and empathetic therapist with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. Her warm, caring nature and deep commitment to supporting others shine through in everything she does. Maggie is especially passionate about working with women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, and she finds great fulfillment in helping families create stronger, more loving connections.
Maggie began her career in her home country as a psychotherapist and psychologist, where she specialized in play therapy for children and family counseling. After relocating to Canada, she spent a decade working with the Children’s Aid Society in Toronto. During this time, she gained extensive experience and insight into the challenges faced by women and children dealing with abuse, both within the home and in the aftermath of separation. Her work in this area has given her a profound understanding of the family court system and how to best support her clients through these difficult and often complex dynamics.
Maggie’s approach to therapy is both supportive and patient. She creates a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their emotions and experiences at their own pace. She integrates principles of equity, justice, and anti-oppression into her work, with a particular focus on cultural sensitivity. This holistic approach allows her to truly connect with her clients and help them find their inner strength and resilience.
Blending psychodynamic and client-centered therapies, Maggie tailors her sessions to meet the unique needs of each individual. Her goal is to guide clients toward personal growth, healing, and self-discovery, empowering them to overcome challenges and build a healthier, more fulfilling life.
Maggie has extensive experience in providing play therapy for children aged 3 and up and currently sees client's in Whitehouse Psychotherapy’s beautiful Richmond Hill office. Play therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses play as a medium for children to express their feelings, thoughts, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Through play, children can process complex emotions, develop problem-solving skills, and work through trauma or difficult life situations. Maggie uses this method to help children navigate challenges such as anxiety, behavioral issues, or emotional distress, fostering healing and emotional growth.
In addition to her expertise in English, Maggie is fluent in Spanish, making her services accessible to a diverse range of clients. Whether you're seeking support through difficult family dynamics, healing from trauma, or simply looking for a compassionate counselor who understands your cultural background, Maggie is here to help.
